UAE-Kenya travel: Emirates announces third daily Nairobi service from Dubai
Enhanced flight timings improve links with Europe, the US and Africa
DUBAI – Emirates is expanding its long-standing presence in Kenya with the launch of a third daily service to Nairobi from 1 March 2026, marking a major enhancement in connectivity between the UAE and one of East Africa’s busiest gateways.
The move comes as the airline celebrates 30 years of operations in the country and responds to steadily rising demand on the Dubai-Nairobi route. With the additional frequency, Emirates will operate 21 weekly flights to the Kenyan capital, providing passengers seamless access to Dubai and nearly 150 onward destinations worldwide.
The timing of the new flight is designed to create stronger two-way connections with key markets across Europe and the US, supporting Kenya’s goal of attracting 5 million international visitors by 2030.
Dubai to Nairobi
The airline’s new rotation introduces an early morning arrival and departure in Nairobi, a schedule that complements the two existing daily services. Flight EK717 will leave Dubai at 00:55 hrs and land in Nairobi at 05:05 hrs. The return rotation, EK718, departs at 06:50 hrs and arrives in Dubai at 12:50 hrs. These timings have been strategically set to enhance connectivity with major European cities, including London, Paris, Oslo and Milan, as well as key US gateways.
Emirates has been operating its current double daily service at strong seat factors, underscoring sustained demand from both leisure and business travellers. The new daily service will be operated using a three-class Boeing 777 aircraft, offering First, Business and Economy Class cabins. Nairobi remains one of the select African cities where Emirates continues to offer First Class, giving passengers additional premium travel options and more access to the airline’s signature products and services.
How does this support regional links?
The schedule has also been synchronised with Kenya Airways’ regional network, enabling smoother travel across East and Central Africa. Through the interline partnership signed in 2023, more than 31,000 passengers have already taken advantage of coordinated travel options between the two airlines. Demand has been balanced almost equally between both carriers, demonstrating the partnership’s growing relevance for travel to destinations such as Rwanda, Kilimanjaro, Mozambique and Burundi.
Beyond passenger traffic, the extra flight strengthens cargo operations. The Boeing 777’s belly hold will add around 280 tonnes of weekly freight capacity to and from Nairobi. The early morning departure is expected to support the movement of time-sensitive perishables including fruits, vegetables and cut flowers, core export commodities for Kenya’s horticulture sector.

Kenya and the UAE share longstanding bilateral and economic ties, reinforced earlier this year with the signing of a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement. Emirates SkyCargo already operates three weekly freighters to Nairobi, and with three daily passenger flights, the airline’s weekly cargo capacity in the Kenyan market will exceed 1,100 tonnes.
Emirates’ presence in Kenya has grown considerably since its inaugural flight in 1995. Over the past three decades, the airline has carried more than 6.6 million passengers to and from Nairobi. Key inbound markets include South Korea, China, Thailand and Australia, alongside significant long-haul traffic from the US. Outbound travel patterns are similarly diverse, with strong demand from Kenyan travellers heading to major cities in China and Australia, as well as US hubs including Seattle, New York and Washington.
In 2024, Emirates opened Africa’s first Emirates World store in Nairobi, bringing its premium retail experience to the region. The outlet features immersive product showcases and personalised travel support, reflecting the airline’s growing investment in its Kenyan customer base.
Bookings for all three daily flights on the Dubai-Nairobi route are now available through Emirates channels and authorised travel partners.
